Skin is like a mirror of the individual’s health. If a person have a skin disorders, acne and pimples, then it is obvious that he is suffering from various skin problems. Skin is the sign to one’s ayurvedic constitution, this can be implicit by the types of skin that one has. For example, if vata is predominant, the skin of a person is dry, rough and wrinkles prone. In case of pitta property, the skin is tender and fragile with spots, acne and burn easily. If the constitution is of kapha dosha the skin of a person is oily, soft and moist.
According to ayurveda, every skin constitutes the panchmahabhootha as its components. If the skin is not cared properly and neglected it suffers from premature aging, becomes dull and blemished.
Skin also constitute of Bhrajaka Pitta, If the skin has a imbalance of this constituent then it can cause pigmentation and discoloration to the skin. Extreme exposure to the sun, unbalanced eating and drinks that exacerbate pitta are responsible for the aggravation of bhrajaka pitta. Protect your skin when you go out on cold windy days. Wear a scarf and apply natural moisturizer on the face. There are various natural ayurvedic remedies that can provide you wonderful skin. Brahmi (Bacopa), Shatavari (Indian Asparagus), Amla (Indian Gooseberry), Gotu kola (Indian Pennywort) and Ashwagandha (Winter Cherry) are powerful Vata-pacifying skin remedies that help to hold skin elasticity, moisture balance, texture and radiance. Apply a paste made from one teaspoon of cumin seeds. Remove after one hour.
Premature aging can be caused due to the exasperation of vata doha, which naturally increase with the ageing process. Ageing causes dryness and wrinkling of the skin. However, you can prevent your skin from getting older by using the coconut oil, almond oil and ghee, what you have to do is just message your face from these ingredients. You can also apply aloe vera and cucumber on your face. Therefore, if you really want to cure your skin then there is no treatment like ayurveda.
