Milflox eye drops contain the fluoroquinolone antibiotic, Moxifloxacin. It is an eye drop that treats bacterial conjunctivitis (also known as pink eye), a bacterial infection, and acts by destroying the bacteria responsible for causing an infection.

In patients receiving quinolones, including Moxifloxacin, serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported following the first dose. Some reactions were accompanied by cardiovascular collapse, angioedema, loss of consciousness, airway obstruction, itching, urticaria, and dyspnea. If an allergic reaction to Moxifloxacin develops, discontinue treatment.

Serious acute hypersensitivity reactions may require immediate medical attention. Oxygen and airway management should be introduced as clinically indicated. Patients should not wear contact lenses if they develop signs or symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis. As with other anti-infectives, prolonged usage may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection develops, you may be advised to discontinue treatment and introduce alternative therapy.

Please tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines. Remember to mention the medicines you bought without a prescription, over the counter. Do not use other ophthalmic solutions with Milflox eye drops unless your ophthalmologist advises. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies with Milflox in pregnant women to inform of drug-associated risks.

Some people who use Milflox eye drops may get side effects. They can be unpleasant, but most of them soon resolve. You can usually keep using the ophthalmic solution unless the effects are serious. If you are concerned, speak to your doctor.

While using the eye drops, you may experience some of the reactions in your eye, including dryness, redness, itching, burning or stinging sensation,   discomfort,  broken blood vessels, corneal irritations,  swelling of the eye or eyelid, reduction of vision, or other ocular irritations. If you notice any unwanted side effects not mentioned in this information guide, you should stop taking medicine and speak to your ophthalmologist.

Milflox 0.5% is for topical use only. Instil one drop in the affected eye three times a day for seven days. Only use the eye drop in both eyes if your ophthalmologist advises you. Use the product for seven days or as long as your ophthalmologist has told you. Wash your hands. Hold the bottle near the eye, tilt your head back, and pull down your eyelid, making a pocket between the eyelid and your eye. Gently squeeze the bottle and release a drop of solution in there.

To avoid contamination, ensure the dropper tip does not touch any skin’s surface. The tip of the dropper should not come into contact with the eye as this may cause injury to the eye. If more than one ophthalmic medicinal product is used, the drug must be administered at least five minutes apart. Apply eye ointment at last. Tendon inflammation and rupture may occur with fluoroquinolone treatment, including Moxifloxacin, particularly in elderly patients and those treated concurrently with corticosteroids. Therefore, Milflox eye drops should be discontinued at the initial signs of tendon inflammation. Repeat the process for your other eye if you need to take drops in both eyes.
