Ciplox 0.3% is the antibiotic drop used to treat eye bacterial infections. It helps relieve symptoms of the infection by stopping the further growth of causative microorganisms.

Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic is an antibiotic eye drop that belongs to a group of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics. This is a prescription-based medicine for treating bacterial eye infections. Additionally, some doctors prescribe Ciprofloxacin for certain serious ear infections too, follow your doctor's advice or, in case of any doubt, go for a second opinion by consulting another doctor.

The antibiotic Ciprofloxacin works by killing the bacteria that cause the infection. It is effective against both the gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial cells. The drug hampers the cell replication process of bacteria by inhibiting the function of DNA gyrase or type II topo-isomerase enzymes that separate the bacterial DNA and prepare it for replication.

Some medications with which Ciprofloxacin Opthalmic may interact are tizanidine (Zanaflex), blood thinners like Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven); Clozapine(Clozaril, Fazaclo); Cyclosporine; Glyburid; Methotrexate; Metoclopramide; Phenytoin; Probenecid; Ropinirole; Theophylline; Ibuprofen; Diclofenac; Meloxicam; or Steroids. Don't take them with Ciprofloxacin Opthalmic; let your doctor know if you are using any of these medications. You may use them depending on your doctor's advice.

The list of drugs mentioned above is not complete, and there may be other drugs that can interact with it.

Along with the benefits, most medicines come with unwanted side effects. It is not necessary that everyone experience the side effects. Ciprofloxacin eye drops may temporarily cause stinging or burning in your eyes for a few minutes. Some common side effects include eye discomfort, itching, redness, tearing, eyelid crusting, feeling as if something is in your eye, blurred vision, a bad taste in your mouth, or sensitivity to light. Stop using this medicine and get medical attention immediately if these effects persist or deteriorate.

Antibiotics shouldn't be taken without a doctor's prescription. Use Ciprofloxacin eye drops (Ciplox) strictly as prescribed by your doctor. Never alter the dosage or use it for longer than the prescribed period.

Putting Ciprofloxacin in eye drops is very simple. Do not wear contact lenses while using this medicine. If you are using other Opthalmic medication, wait at least 10 minutes before administering it. Ensure a high level of hygiene while handling eye drops, bottles and droppers. Do not touch the tip of the bottle or dropper as there is a high possibility of contamination. It is of utmost importance that you complete the full course of the Ciprofloxacin Opthalmic medication. Your condition may completely vanish even before completing the full dosage. If you stop taking the doses and don't complete the course, the chances of relapse of your infection increase, and you may suffer from a more potent infection that can be drug resistant.
