Progynova 2 mg is a type of replacement therapy or HRT containing a female sex hormone estrogen; the ovaries naturally produce that. Doctors prescribe this medicine to treat symptoms associated with menopause.  It helps to alleviate troublesome symptoms like vaginal dryness, hot flushes, itching, thinning of bones, and estrogen deficiency. Use of this medicine is not recommended for pregnant women or those who are planning to conceive in future. Inform your doctor immediately if you suspect pregnancy while being treated with HRT. Each tablet contains 2 mg of the active ingredient estradiol valerate, which replaces the estrogen that your body no longer produce, and this helps to improve distressing symptoms.

Before taking Progynova 2 mg, tell your doctor if you have a history of severe diabetes, high blood fats, breast cancer, sickle-cell anaemia, the blister-like a rash, itching of the whole body, jaundice not explained by infections,  and certain other types of idiopathic jaundice. Certain diseases are known to deteriorate during pregnancy, and that might behave similarly during treatment which requires careful observation during the treatment. These diseases are multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure, benign breast disease, asthma, inherited deafness, a certain type of heart and kidney diseases, epilepsy, etc. Your doctor will examine your breasts periodically while receiving hormone replacement therapy, particularly if you have a history of breast cancer.

Discontinue Progynova 2 mg, if you develop jaundice, or if you have high blood pressure or if you have increased episodes of epileptic seizures. There is an increased risk of blood clotting with the use of Progynova 2 mg. It is important to discontinue treatment and consult your doctor if you experience the first attack of migraine, sudden disturbances of vision or hearing, pain in the chest or abdomen, inflamed veins, numbness in any parts of the body, breathlessness, unexplained cough, stomach pain, and swelling in the limbs. If you have any of these symptoms, you should discontinue treatment, and speak to your doctor.

Progynova 2 mg comes in a package, which is designed to help you remember to take medicine. Each tablet is placed in such a way that each one is marked with the day of the week on which it should be taken. To begin with the treatment, you must first know the day of the week on which you will take the first tablet. Your doctor will tell the time when you must start the medicine. If you are taking other medicines at the same time as Progynova 2 mg, it is important to inform your doctor. There are certain drugs, including antibiotics and antiepileptics that may reduce the effectiveness of this hormone replacement therapy. If you have diabetes, then your doctor may need to alter the dose of the medicine that you need to treat your diabetes.
