Indication
Silagra is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction
in men.
Dosage and Administration
For most patients, the recommended dose is 50 mg taken,
as neededapproximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However, Silagra
may be takenanywhere from 4 hours to 0.5 hour before sexual activity.
Based oneffectiveness and toleration, the dose may be increased to a maximumrecommended
dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The maximumrecommended dosing frequency
is once per day.
Contraindications
Use of Silagra is contraindicated in
patients with a known hypersensitivityto any component of the tablet.
Consistent with its known effects on thenitric oxide/cGMP pathway, sildenafil
was shown to potentiate the hypotensive effects of nitrates, and its administration
to patients who areconcurrently using organic nitrates in any form is
therefore contraindicated.
Side effects
Only your doctor can decide if SILAGRA is right for you.
SILAGRA can cause mild, temporary lowering of your blood pressure. You
will need to have a thorough medical exam to diagnose your erectile dysfunction
and to find out if you can safely take SILAGRA alone or with your other
medicines. Your doctor should determine if your heart is healthy enough
to handle the extra strain of having sex. Be sure to tell your doctor
if you have had:
Any heart problems (e.g., angina, chest pain, heart failure,
irregular heart beats, or heart attack), have ever had a stroke,
» Low or high blood pressure,
» A rare inherited eye disease called
retinitis pigmentosa,
» Any kidney problems or any liver
problems,
» Any blood problems, including sickle
cell anemia or leukemia,
» Allergies to Sildenafil or any of
the other ingredients of SILAGRA® tablets,
» A deformed penis, Peyronie`s disease,
or ever had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours,
» Stomach ulcers or any types of bleeding
problems or, if you are taking any other medicines.
Overdosage
In studies with healthy volunteers of single doses up
to 800 mg, adverse events were similar to those seen at lower doses but
incidence rates were increased. In cases of overdose, standard supportive
measures should be adopted as required. Renal dialysis is not expected
to accelerate clearance as sildenafil is highly bound to plasma proteins
and it is not eliminated in the urine.
