About the drug:

Nateglinide is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of type 2 Diabetes. It is also given with Metformin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is one of the most recommended drugs given in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.

Uses of the drug:

Nateglinide is given in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is indicated in non insulin diabetes mellitus. Nateglinide is given alone or in combination with Metformin for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that keeps blood sugar level under control. In state of type 2 diabetes mellitus, there is no control over blood sugar levels. There is decrease in production of insulin from pancreas. Nateglinide stimulates the pancreas to generate insulin.

Nateglinide that helps in controlling the bloods sugar levels in the body. It targets pancreas and stimulates insulin secretion. It interacts with beta cells of the pancreatic islets and causes calcium inflow that stimulates insulin secretion. It has same mechanism of action as of Sulfonyl urea.

How to take the drug?

Nateglinide is taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet with full glass of water. Don’t crush or chew the tablet.
Nateglinide is generally taken immediately before your meal as it will not produce any gastrointestinal disturbances and hypoglycemic like conditions. Generally, it is taken thrice a day, but your doctor can only recommend the best timings. Always take the medicine as prescribed by the doctor. It can be taken 30 minutes or less before a meal.
