Micogel cream 0.02% is a topical prescription treatment for patients with fungal infections of the skin. It contains the antifungal agent Miconazole, which eliminates the fungus that causes infections such as ringworm, jock itch, athlete’s foot and other fungal infections. This medication is also effective against tinea versicolor, a fungal infection that causes darkening of the skin, chest, arms, neck, or legs. Antifungal medicines treat the infection by preventing the growth of fungus. You must apply this topical antifungal treatment on clean and dry skin. You may have mild irritation on the skin where it is used or may witness burning and itching sensation in the affected area.

You must dry the infected area before applying Micogel 0.02%. Avoid tight-fitting clothes that are made of synthetic fibres, instead, opt for loose-fitting cotton clothes. Make, sure the topical preparation does not get into your eyes. If it happens, wash your eyes immediately with running tap water. During pregnancy, medicine should only be used when required. Be sure to discuss the risks and benefits of using medication. It is not known whether the medication passes into breast milk or not. Therefore, it is essential to speak to your doctor before breastfeeding. It is not likely that other medicines that other oral medications and injections will affect the mechanism of action of this drug. But it is always a wise decision to talk to a doctor before using this topical preparation if you are currently using a steroid or had an allergic reaction to other antifungal medicine.

The most common side effects of using Micogel 0.02% including irritation, dryness, blistering or peeling of the skin. These side effects are usually mild and disappear within a short period. Inform your doctor if you think you might have a severe allergic reaction. Signs of a severe allergic reaction include breathing issues, swallowing problems, nausea, feeling dizzy, swelling of the lips, face, or throat. Get immediate medical help if this happens. Avoid direct contact with this antifungal agent with your eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse your eyes with running water and seek medical help.

Use Micogel 0.02% in the dose and duration exactly as given on your prescription. Use it regularly to get the best effects. Do not use more than the prescribed amount; doing this may only increase the risks of side effects. Usually, a skin infection gets better after 2 to 6 weeks of treatment. Do not use this drug for longer than your doctor has told you and inform him/her if your condition does not improve after 2 to 6 weeks. Keeping the infected skin clean and dry, washing hands before and after treating infection, may increase the effects of the medicine. If you are using Micogel for treating your athlete’s foot, wash your socks or tights thoroughly and if possible, change your shoes daily.
