Risnia 2 mg contains the active ingredient Risperidone, approved for the treatment of psychotic symptoms associated with the following conditions:   

 

   — Schizophrenia in adults and children aged 13 and up

   — Bipolar I acute manic or mixed episodes as monotherapy (in adults and children aged and up)

   — Bipolar I acute manic or mixed episodes adjunctive with lithium or valproate in adults

   — Autism-associated irritability in children aged five and above.

 

Risperidone helps restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain, reducing the symptoms associated with these psychotic conditions. It reduces schizophrenia symptoms (delusions, hallucinations, trouble with thinking, lack of motivation, disorganized speech, etc.) and psychotic symptoms (extreme mood swings, depression, and mania) during a severe manic or depressive episode. 

Risnia 2 mg uses is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to either Risperidone or paliperidone or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylactic reactions and angioedema, have been reported in patients treated with Risperidone and in patients treated with paliperidone. Risnia is not recommended in pregnant women and should be used cautiously in breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in elderly patients having dementia and should be used with caution in other elderly patients; therefore, consult your doctor before taking medicine.

 

Risperidone is not recommended for children and adolescents under 15 years for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment with Risnia. Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have kidney, liver, or heart diseases or are about to have eye surgery, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, or a painful or prolonged erection. Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis treated with antipsychotic medications are at increased risk of death. Risnia is not approved for the treatment of dementia-related psychosis.

Like any other medication, Risnia 2mg side effects are also reported. In clinical trials, the most common side effects of tab risnia 2 mg were increased appetite, upper respiratory tract infections, tiredness, rhinitis, coughing, increased saliva, fever, constipation,  dry mouth, abdominal pain, nausea, anxiety, parkinsonism, rash, dyspepsia,  tremor,  dizziness,  and urinary continence. The most common side effects of discontinuation from clinical trials were nausea, dizziness, vomiting, drowsiness,  agitation, and akathisia.

 

Risnia 2 mg tablet can be taken once or twice daily. Patients should start treatment with 2 mg per day. The dose of the medicine may be increased on the second day to 4 mg. From then on, the dosage can be maintained unchanged if required. Many patients will benefit from daily doses between 4 and 6 mg. In some patients, a lower starting and maintenance dose may be appropriate. Follow your prescription when you take Risnia 2mg dosage or above.

 

Using dry hands, remove the tablet from the blister and immediately place the orally disintegrating tablet on the tongue. Risperidone should be consumed immediately, as the pill can't be stored once removed from the blister unit. The tablet disintegrates in the mouth within seconds and can be swallowed subsequently with or without water. Do not attempt to split or chew the tablet. While treating Risnia, your doctor might want you to take certain diagnostic tests such as prolactin and blood sugar levels or closely monitor your body weight.
