Telma 40 mg is a prescription drug for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults.  In certain high-risk people aged 55 years and older, the medicine helps to lower the risk of having certain cardiovascular problems such as heart attack, stroke, and death.  The medicine is not safe and effective in children. Your doctor may prescribe this drug with lifestyle changes to help lower your blood pressure. These include limited alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, limited salt intake, and regular exercise as advised by the doctor. The hypertensive drug is well tolerated by most patients and comes with minimal side effects. The drug is widely used to treat hypertension and is considered safe for long term use.

You should not take Telma 40 mg tablets if you are allergic to Telmisartan or other ingredients present in the medication. Telmisartan is not for pregnant women. Taking it during pregnancy can cause harm to the unborn baby. If you find out pregnancy, discontinue treatment and speak to your doctor. In this case, your doctor may find other ways to lower blood pressure. Before taking Telma 40, let your doctor know if you are suffering from medical conditions such as liver or kidney problems. Your doctor may monitor you for kidney function, potassium levels, and blood pressure while taking medicine.

The most common side effects of Telma 80 mg include diarrhoea, congestion, sinus pain, and back pain. Rare allergic reactions may also occur. Tell your doctor straight away if you notice trouble breathing, rash, blistering of the skin, swelling of the face, throat, and tongue. Other side effects of Telmisartan include low blood pressure, high potassium in the blood, kidney problems, and dizziness. Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects.

Take Telma 40 mg exactly as your doctors tell you. Your doctor will decide how much Telmisartan to take when to take it. You are not allowed to change the dose by speaking to the doctor. Your doctor may ask you to take Telma 40 mg tablet before or after consuming food. The medicine may be prescribed alone or in combination with other drugs to achieve appropriate blood pressure levels. Read the prescription provided by your doctor before you begin to receive antihypertensive therapy.
