Imdur 60 mg contains the active ingredient Isosorbide mononitrate, which belongs to a family of drugs called nitrates. It is a vasodilator medicine that affects both arteries and veins. Isosorbide mononitrate dilates (widens) blood vessels, paving a clear passage for the blood flow and helping the heart pump blood easier. It is prescribed mainly to prevent angina attacks (chest pain). However, it will not treat an angina attack that has already begun.

    — Imdur is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Concomitant use can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, syncope, or myocardial infarction. Do not use Isosorbide mononitrate in patients taking the soluble guanylate cyclase stimulator riociguat. Concomitant use can cause severe drops in blood pressure.

    — The safety and effectiveness of Isosorbide mononitrate in pediatric patients have not been established.

    — It is not known whether isosorbide mononitrate is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in breast milk, caution should be exercised when Imdur is administered to a nursing woman. In general. Be cautious while ding dose selection for an elderly patient, usually starting at the low dose, reflecting the greater frequency of decreased renal, hepatic, or cardiac function and concomitant disease or other drug therapy.

    — Concomitant use of Imdur with phosphodiesterase inhibitors in any form is contraindicated.

    — Concomitant use of Isosorbide mononitrate with riociguate is contraindicated.

    — The vasodilating effects of Imdur may be additive with those of other vasodilators. In addition, alcohol has been found to exhibit additive effects.
