Metolar XR 50 mg is available as extended-release capsules for oral administration. Metoprolol is a member of drug class- beta blockers that treat high blood pressure. The medicine is equally effective in treating angina, irregular heart rhythms. Your doctor may prescribe it alone or in combination with other drugs to treat these conditions. You should not take Metoprolol extended-release capsule if you have a known allergy to metoprolol, or if you have a serious heart condition such as a heart block, sick sinus syndrome, or slow heart rate.

To ensure that Metolar extended-release 50 mg is safe for you, inform your doctor before taking this drug if you have any of the following conditions: diabetes, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, low blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, depression, a thyroid disorder, myasthenia gravis, pheochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland), circulation problems (such as Raynaud’s syndrome), or a history of allergies.
