Vesigard 7.5 mg is an extended-release tablet that contains 7.5 mg of Darifenacin as its active ingredient. It is prescribed for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms such as:

   — Having a strong urge to go to the bathroom right away

   — Leaking accidents (urinary incontinence)

   — Having to go to the bathroom too often (urinary frequency)

An overactive bladder is when you can’t control your bladder contractions. When this contraction of muscles happens too often or can’t be controlled, you get symptoms of overactive bladder urge, urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency.

Vesigard tablets are contraindicated in patients with urinary retention, gastric retention, narrow-angle glaucoma and those at risk for these conditions. The medicine is also contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or its ingredients.

Vesigard tablets should be cautiously administered to patients with clinically significant outflow obstruction because of the risk of urinary retention.

Do not take Vesigard if any of the following applies to you:

   — Unable to empty the bladder

   — Delayed or slow emptying of your stomach

   — Have an eye condition called uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma

   — Severe hepatic impairment

   — Gastric retention

   — Are you allergic to Darifenacin or any of its ingredients

   — Concomitant treatment with potent CYP3A4

Darifenacin should be administered with caution to patients with autonomic neuropathy, clinically significant bladder outflow obstruction, hiatus hernia, severe constipation, the risk for urinary retention, or obstructive gastrointestinal disorders such as pyloric stenosis.

Other causes of frequent urination, such as heart failure or renal disease, should be assessed before treatment with Darifenacin.

The medicine should be used with caution in patients with a risk of decreased gastrointestinal motility and gastroesophageal reflux or who are currently taking medicinal products that can cause or worsen esophagitis.

Caution should be taken when prescribing antimuscarinics to patients with pre-existing cardiac diseases.

The use of medicine has not been studied in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age.

Let your doctor know if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicine, including medicines you bought without a prescription. This is particularly important if you take certain antibiotics, antiviral medicines, antipsychotic drugs, anticonvulsants, antimuscarinics, and medicines to treat heart problems.

The most common side effects of Vesigard 7.5 mg are constipation and dry mouth.

The medicine may cause other less common side effects, which include:

   — Blurred vision: Use caution while driving or indulging in activities that require your complete attention.

   — Heat prostration can occur due to decreased sweating when drugs such as Darifenacin are used in a hot environment.

These are not all the side effects of the medicine. For more information, ask your doctor.

Take Vesigard exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe the dose that is right for you. Your doctor will always prescribe the lowest dose if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver problems. You should take the tablet once daily with water. Swallow it whole without chewing or crushing it. Take it before or after consuming food.
