Potrate 1080 mg helps to relieve discomfort associated with mild urinary tract infections (UTIs). It is also used to prevent the formation of certain types of kidney stones. It contains the active ingredient potassium citrate; its generic name is Urocit k 1080mg. It is an extended-release potassium salt prescribed to relieve pain and frequency caused by mild UTIs (urinary tract infections) such as cystitis. It may also effectively control kidney stones (renal tubular acidosis) and treat gout and arrhythmia. The effects it has to include reducing the acidity of urine.

Potassium is a mineral found in many foods and is needed for several functions of your body, especially the beating of your heart. Potassium citrate 1080mg extended-release oral tablet treats a kidney stone condition called renal tubular acidosis. Potassium citrate may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this information guide.

Do not take Potrate 1080 mg if you are allergic to any of the ingredients present in the medicine. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or trying for a baby or are a breastfeeding mother. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not crush, chew, break, or suck on an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. Breaking or crushing the pill may cause too much of the drug to be released at one time. Sucking on a potassium tablet can irritate your mouth or throat. Avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after you take this medication.
