Eptus 50 mg is a prescription medicine used to improve the survival of stable patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction and clinical evidence of congestive heart failure after acute myocardial infarction. It also helps in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). The medicine is combined with other medicines to control your blood pressure. Eptus contains the active ingredient Eplerenone, which reduces the body's water by increasing the urine flow. This way, it reduces blood pressure and the risk of having a heart attack, stroke, kidney problems, and heart problems in the future. This medicine needs to be taken regularly to be effective, so keep taking it even if you feel well. Do not discontinue treatment without speaking to your doctor.

Eptus 50 should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to Eplerenone or any of the ingredients of the medicine. You should be careful about using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, let your doctor know of all the medications you are using, as they may affect how the Eptus work or Eptus may reduce the effectiveness of other medicines.

It should not be given to patients with severe kidney impairment.

Use of Eptus should be avoided in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.

Eplerenone should not be co-administered to patients receiving potassium-sparing diuretics, itraconazole, ritonavir, ketoconazole, clarithromycin, and ritonavir.

The medicine should only be used if it is required during pregnancy. While using this drug, you may be advised to limit your intake of salt, and you should have your blood pressure checked frequently. Some tests will be done to monitor the [progression during the treatment.

Most common side effects do not require medical attention and resolve as your body adjusts to the medicine. Speak to your doctor if they persist or if you are concerned about them. Commonly reported ones are nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, fatigue, cough, headache, flu-like symptoms, increased potassium levels in the blood, and increased creatinine levels in the blood.

For hypertension, the recommended starting dose is 50 mg, administered once daily. The full effect of Eptus appears within our weeks. For patients with inadequate blood pressure response to 50 mg once daily, the dosage of Eptus should be increased to 50 mg twice daily.

Taking Eplerenone with food can reduce some side effects, and taking it early in the day can prevent you from getting up mid-night to go to the toilet. You should keep using the medicine as prescribed even if you feel well and show no symptoms. If you discontinue treatment, your condition may get worse. If you are being treated with Eptus to treat your high blood pressure, lifestyle changes such as regular exercise and certain diet modifications may increase the effectiveness of this medicine.
