Glizid 80 mg contains Gliclazide, which belongs to a group of medicines known as sulfonylureas. The class of drugs increases the amount of insulin your pancreas helps to lower your blood sugar. Type 2 diabetes is a condition where the body does not make enough insulin hormone or makes insulin that does not work properly. This causes a spike in blood sugar levels. Do not stop taking medication unless your doctor advises, even if your sugar levels are normal. Gliclazide is not recommended for people with Type 1 diabetes.

Glizid can sometimes make your blood sugar level too low. The condition is often referred to as hypoglycaemia. If this happens, do not drive cycle or use tools until you feel better. Make sure you carry some fruit juice or sweets with you to help when this happens.

If you are going to have an operation, please, tell your doctor you are taking Gliclazide. This is because this antidiabetic drug increases the risk of low blood sugar during an operation.

You may not feel any different when taking Glizid 80. This does not mean that Gliclazide is not working. It is important to keep taking medicine. No clinical evidence shows that Gliclazide harms your pancreas or your general health. However, it may stop working, so your doctor may want to discontinue treatment and add a different medicine to help your blood sugar level stable.

Glizid 80 mg shows side effects like indigestion and an upset stomach. Gliclazide, being an antidiabetic agent, may cause low blood sugar levels. The signs include dizziness, sweating and shivering. To avoid these side effects, eat your meals on time and carry a sugar source with you to mediate relief. Make sure you do not take Glizid if you are allergic to it. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking medication, as it can lower your blood glucose levels.

Glizid comes as tablets which release the active ingredient gliclazide into your body quickly, so you may be asked to take the tablet several times a day depending on your dose. The dose of the medicine depends on the condition of the patient. Take medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet with a drink of water; do not chew, crush, or break the pill. In general, it is recommended to be taken half an hour before breakfast. If you have been asked to take two doses daily, take one with your breakfast and one with your evening meal. Diabetes treatment is usually for life. Do not stop taking Glizid tablets without speaking to your doctor. Sudden discontinuation may worsen your condition. The medicine is safe for long-term use. Try not to miss a dose; if you do, skip the missed one and continue to take the next scheduled dose at the usual time.
