Erlocip 100 mg is a prescription medicine for patients with non-small cell lung cancer whose cancer has spread to other body areas. It contains the active substance Erlotinib which treats cancer by preventing the activity of a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This protein is responsible for the growth and spread of cancer cells. The medicine is indicated for adults with non-small cell lung cancer at an advanced stage. Doctors may prescribe this as initial therapy or in cases where the condition remains unchanged after initial chemotherapy, provided your cancer cells have specific EGFR mutations. Your doctor may also prescribe this drug in combination with another medication called gemcitabine if you have cancer growth in pancreas at a metastatic stage.

Do not take Erlocip 100 mg if you are allergic to erlotinib or any other ingredients of the medicine. If you are taking other medications that may increase or decrease the amount of erlotinib in your blood and influence its effect. The medicine includes antifungals like ketoconazole, protease inhibitors, clarithromycin, barbiturates, phenytoin, rifampicin, erythromycin, omeprazole, ranitidine, ciprofloxacin, or St. John’s Wort. Talk to your doctor about these medicines. If you are taking medications to treat blood clot such as warfarin, Erlocip 100 mg may increase your tendency to bleed. Discuss with your doctor regarding the same.

Like other medicines, Erlocip 100 mg can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Discuss with your doctor as soon as possible right away if you suffer from any side effects associated with the use of this anti-cancer drug. In some cases, your doctor may ask you to reduce the dose or interrupt the treatment for some time. Vomiting and diarrhoea are a very common side effect. If diarrhea persists, it may lead to low blood potassium and impairment of your kidney function, especially when you receive other chemotherapy treatments at the same time. If you experience a more severe or persistent diarrhea, inform your doctor immediately as you may need hospitalization. Other common side effects include infection, depression, nausea, tiredness, stomach pain, difficulty in breathing, mouth irritation, decreased weight, abnormal blood tests, dry skin, and loss of hair. If you witness any of these side effects, please talk to your doctor. This includes adverse reactions not mentioned in this information guide.

Always take Erlocip 100 mg exactly as your doctor has instructed you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure about how and when to receive your anti-cancer drug. Take the tablet at least an hour before or two hours after having food. For patients with non-small cell lung cancer, the usual dose is one tablet a day. For the treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer, The of Erlocip is 100 mg. In this case, the medicine is given in combination with gemcitabine treatment. It is best to take Erlotinib tablets under the supervision of a doctor.
