About the drug:

Calcipotriol is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Daivonex Ointment. This drug is a topical vitamin D analouge, when applied to the skin, it works by reducing the production of skin cells and treats plaque psoriasis in adults and children aged over 6 years.

Uses of the drug:

Calcipotriol is used to treat plaque psoriasis. It is a more common condition where red scaly patches develop on your skin, called plaques. This medicine does not contain steroids, it is used only on skin affected by psoriasis. 

Working of the drug:

This drug consists of Calcipotriol which is a synthetic form of vitamin D belongs to the class of medicines called anti-psoriatics. When applied to the skin, it works by reducing the production of skin cells. The scaling and thickening of the skin in psoriasis and the appearance of plaques are the result of excessive skin cell production. This ointment reduces the excessive skin cell production and promotes normal skin cell growth and helps to flatten and clear the psoriasis plaques.

Before you take the drug:

Do not take the drug if you:

  • Are allergic to this active ingredient Calcipotriolor any other ingredient of the medicine
  • Problems with the level of calcium in your body (disorders of calcium metabolism).
  • You have a normal skin

Tell your doctor if you:

  • Have high blood pressure
  • Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant in the near future
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have diabetes
  • Have a history of any skin reactions
  • Are receiving chemotherapy


How much to take the drug?

How to take the drug?
