Flutopic 10 mg is a topical prescription treatment for a variety of conditions such as rash, psoriasis, and eczema. The ointment contains the active ingredient Fluticasone propionate, which works to reduce redness, itching, and inflammation. It falls into the category of drugs known as corticosteroids that are effective in relieving the symptoms of eczema and dermatitis. This anti-inflammatory drug is not recommended for use by children because of the risk of severe side effects. Use fluticasone ointment on the skin only. However, do not apply on the face, underarms, and groin area unless instructed to do so by your physician. If you have an allergy to this anti-inflammatory drug, do tell your physician before you use it on your skin.
Before using Flutopic cream, tell your dermatologist, if you are allergic to Fluticasone propionate or other ingredients of the topical formulation. Never let the medicine to enter your eyes, if it happens, immediately wash your eyes with the tap water for many minutes. The dose and prescription are based on the information given by the patient and the condition being treated. This anti-inflammatory medicine is for topical use only and one should not swallow it.
Some of the medications may affect the working mechanism of this ointment and its topical forms like cream and gel too. Check with your doctor about any prescription medicines, OTC or herbal medicines that you might be taking.
Dryness, itching, burning, or stinging may occur when you apply Fluticasone ointment, but the side effects usually last for a short period. If any of these side effects stays or worsen, please tell your dermatologist straight away. Please tell your dermatologist if you notice serious side effects such as excessive hair growth, skin discolouration, stretch marks, and skin thinning.
Flutopic 10 mg is for topical use only, avoid getting it into your eyes, nose or mouth. Be sure to rinse your hands before applying the cream. Properly clean the affected area with mild soap or cleanser and pat it dry. Squeeze a pea-size amount and apply a thin layer of medication to the affected area. Gently rub the medication using your fingers. Usually, once or twice, daily application is enough to get rid of eczema and dermatitis. Still, it is always a wise decision to consult a dermatologist before using this topical preparation. Wash your hands after each application, unless you are using this ointment to treat your hands. Avoid getting Flutopic cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidentally medication gets in these areas, rinse with plenty of water. Make sure you use it exactly as prescribed by your dermatologist. Your dermatologist will be the right person to choose the dose and duration of the medicine. Stick to the application regimen given by your dermatologist. You must inform your dermatologist if your skin condition doesn’t improve in two weeks of regular application.
