Chloroquine (as phos) is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Lariago tablets. Chloroquine phosphate is in a class of drugs called antimalarials and amebicides. This medicine is known to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites through mosquito bites.

Uses of the drug:

Chloroquine Phosphate is one of a group of medicines called anti malarial, which are used in the prevention and suppression of malaria. Chloroquine is also used to treat infections that are caused due to amoebae and useful in the treatment of extra intestinal amoebiasis, giardiasis, rheumatoid arthritis, discold lupus erythematosus, lepra reactions, photogenicreactions, and infectious mononucleosis.

Working of the drug:

This drug consists of Chloroquine Phosphate, which is in a class of drugs called antimalarials and amebicides. Malaria parasites can enter the body through these mosquito bites, and then live in body tissues such as red blood cells or the liver. Before you take the drug:

  • Do not take the drug if you:
  • Are allergic to this active ingredient Chloroquine Phosphate or any other ingredients of the medicine
  • Are pregnant or planning to get pregnant in the near future
  • Are a breastfeeding mother
  • Are currently taking amiodaraone for treatment of irregular heart beats
  • You have a rare hereditary problem of galactose intolerance

How much to take the drug?

How to take the drug?

Miss dose:

You must share in advance with your doctor, the list of all medications which you may be using, especially these ones: phenylbutazone, pyridostigmine, cimetidine, amiodaron, antacids, pyrimethamine or sulphadoxine, cyclosporine, mefloquine, birth control pills, antifungal medicines, tuberculosis medicines, blood pressure medications, cancer medication, Lipitor, HIV/AIDS medications, NSAID such as Advil, Aleve, gout or arthritis medications, seizure medications. There may be other medications that can cause drug interaction with this medicine. Never start a new medication with consulting a doctor.
