Gemfibrozil is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in the Lopid capsules. This drug belongs to a group of medication known as a lipid-regulating medicine commonly called Fibrates. This medicine helps in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides  or fatty acids in the blood.

Uses of the drug:

Gemfibrozil along with diet and exercise, is used for the treatment of high levels of triglycerides (type of fat) in the blood. Gemfibrozil is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with high cholesterol and triglycerides who have not been helped by other treatment methods.

Working of the drug:

Dosage:
