About the drug:

The active ingredient of the drug is Lovastatin. It belongs to a family of drug called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. It is mainly used to control bad cholesterol in your body.

Uses of the drug:

The medicine is mainly used to lower low density lipoprotein i.e. bad cholesterol in your body. High levels of LDL can result in several adverse health conditions such as heart attack, stroke, other heart complications in people with coronary heart disease, diabetes, or other risk factors.

Working of the drug:

The medicine works by lowering low density lipoprotein and triglycerides in the blood. At the same time it worked by increasing high density lipoprotein or good cholesterol in the body.

How much to take the drug?

How to take the drug?

The medicine is to be taken by mouth with the help of a glass of water. Follow the instruction of your doctor while taking the medicine and do not alter the dose. Also do not take the medicine after the prescribed period is over.

Things to remember:

  • Antacids should not be taken without the doctor’s advice when taking this medicine.
  • Avoid a high fat diet and follow the diet fixed by your doctor
