Onglyza 5  mg is a prescription medicine combined with diet and exercise to control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It lowers blood sugar by helping the body increase insulin levels after meals. It contains the active substance Saxagliptin, categorized under the class of drugs known as oral antidiabetics. The antidiabetic agent helps to control the sugar level in your bloodstream. Onglyza is effective for adult patients aged 18 years and older with Type 2 diabetes. It is used alone or in combination with insulin or other antidiabetic medicines. It is important to keep following the advice about diet and exercise your doctor gave you.

Onglyza is not for people with type 1 diabetes. It is not for people with diabetic ketoacidosis. Do not take Saxagliptin if you have had a serious allergic reaction if you are allergic to this medicine or to any other similar medicine you take to control blood sugar levels.
