Plavix 75 mg is a drug containing Clopidogrel (active ingredient), which helps to maintain the thickness of the blood by preventing the platelets in the blood from sticking together and forming a clot. It acts as a preventive measure for stroke and heart attacks. It is available for oral consumption in the form of tablets. This medication is employed to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. It is used to inhibit blood clots in a variety of conditions such as peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, and cerebrovascular disease. Clopidogrel is a prodrug; it is metabolized by CYP450 enzymes to produce the active metabolite that helps in the inhibition of platelet aggregation. This active metabolite selectively inhibits adenosine diphosphate (ADP) binding to its platelet P2Y12 receptor and subsequently the ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex, resulting in inhibiting platelet aggregation.
Do not take Plavix 75 mg if you are allergic to any ingredient in Clopidogrel, have blood clots, anemia, or severe liver or kidney problems, or uncontrolled high pulmonary blood pressure. Tell your doctor about any liver or kidney diseases, diabetes, smoke or is overweight, or have a history of heart disorder.
Tell your physician immediately if you notice black, tarry stools, blistering, flaking or peeling of the skin, blood in the urine or stools, chest pain, collection of blood under the skin, deep, dark purple bruise, itching, pain, redness, or swelling, nosebleed, pain in general, painful or difficult urination, red or purple spots on the skin, varying in size from pinpoint to large bruises, shortness of breath, vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds, confusion, fever, chills, or sore throat, headache (sudden, severe), nausea or vomiting. In such cases, you want to choose immediate medical attention. Don't get alarmed by the list. You may or may not experience all of them.
