Empamore tablets 10 mg are indicated to treat insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes in addition to diet and exercise. It is used alone when metformin (a diabetes medicine) is considered inappropriate due to intolerance. Empamore can also be prescribed to adults for treating symptomatic chronic heart failure and chronic kidney disease. If you have type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disorders, Empamore can be used to reduce the risk of dying from cardiovascular events. When there is a buildup of sugar in your bloodstream, this can cause damage to the body’s cells and contribute to serious problems associated with your eyes, heart, circulation, or kidneys.

Precautions with Empagliflozin tablet
Empamore is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to Empagliflozin or any other ingredients in the medicine. Also, it should not be used in patients with severe kidney disease, end-stage kidney disorder, or dialysis.
‒ Empamore is not recommended for patients who have type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
‒ Empamore 10 mg can cause the buildup of ketones in your bloodstream, making your blood acidic. The condition is often referred to as ketoacidosis. The risk of developing ketoacidosis increases if you are dehydrated, have diarrhea, or are not consuming carbohydrates. Assessment of kidney function before starting Empagliflozin and periodically thereafter.
‒ This anti-diabetes medicine may affect the way other medicines function, and other medicines may affect how your diabetes medicine works. Especially let your healthcare expert know if you take diuretics, insulin, or other medicines that can lower your blood sugar level.
‒ It is not recommended for use to improve blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes.
‒ The safety and effectiveness of this medicine for treating heart failure or for treating chronic kidney disorders in children under 18 years of age have not been established.
‒ This medication should not be used during pregnancy as it may affect your developing baby. Also, do not breastfeed during the entire treatment as it is not known if this antidiabetic agent passes into breast milk, and there is a possibility that your infant may be affected.
‒ The medication is not given to children under the age of 18 years because the safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients younger than 18 years have not been established.
‒ Be careful while driving or operating machines until you know how Empagliflozin affects you. This may cause drowsiness, lightheadedness, and tiredness in some people. When used with other antidiabetic agents like sulfonylurea or insulin, your risk of developing low blood sugar is higher. Also, be careful while drinking alcohol, not eating enough, or doing vigorous exercise. These activities may increase the risk of blood sugar levels becoming too low.
Side effects of Empagliflozin tablet
‒ Emapmore 10 mg increases the amount of glucose in urine, which can contribute to urinary tract infections (UTIs) or fungal genital infections (thrush).
‒ Also, inform your healthcare specialist if you develop signs of low blood sugar, including weakness, dizziness, headache, hunger, numbness, flushing or paleness, a fast-pounding heartbeat, and sweating. Low blood sugar generally occurs in patients who already take another medicine to treat diabetes, such as sulfonylurea or insulin.

‒ For type 2 diabetes mellitus, the usual suggested dose of Empamore is 10 mg once a day in the morning, taken before or after consuming food. In patients tolerating Empagliflozin or for additional glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 25mg as per requirement. Do not exceed 25 mg of the dose daily. Changes in the dosing regimen should be made only under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
‒ For heart failure, Empagliflozin 10 mg should usually be recommended.
‒ For chronic kidney disease, a 10 mg dose is usually recommended once a day.
‒ When an Empagliflozin formulation is used in a combination treatment with sulfonylurea or with insulin, the lowest dose of insulin or sulfonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of low blood sugar.
‒ Diet and exercise can support your body to use its blood sugar more effectively.
