Linospan 600 mg is an antibiotic prescribed for treating severe bacterial infections. It effectively treats hospital-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin, and skin structure infection. The antibiotic medicine contains the active ingredient Linezolid, which treats the infection by stopping the growth of bacteria that is responsible for causing the infection.
Linospan 600 mg is contraindicated in patients allergic to linezolid or any other product component. Before taking Linospan tablets, inform your doctor if you have a history of high blood pressure. Large quantities of foods and beverages that contain high tyramine should be avoided while taking the medicine. Let your doctor know if you experience changes in vision, seizures, or diabetes. Diarrhoea is commonly associated with antibiotics, which usually resolves when the antibiotic is stopped. Sometimes the effect resolves after initiating treatment with antibiotics. Patients should be warned of the potential for dizziness or symptoms of vision problems while receiving Linospan tablets. They should be advised not to drive or operate machinery if these symptoms develop.
You must share in advance with your doctor, tell him if you are taking or have taken apraclonidine, bupropion, buspirone, dextromethorphan, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (e.g., phenelzine, selegiline), nefazodone, a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (e.g., atomoxetine), a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) (e.g., duloxetine, venlafaxine), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) (e.g., paroxetine), a tetracyclic antidepressant (e.g., maprotiline, mirtazapine), trazodone, a tricyclic antidepressant (e.g., amitriptyline, doxepin), or vilazodone within the past 14 days.
The most common side effects of Linospan 600 mg include nausea, headache, diarrhoea, and reduced blood counts. These side effects are usually mild, but inform your doctor right away if they cause trouble or last for more than a few days. Linezolid may cause serious side effects like lung diseases (rarely fatal). Symptoms of lung problems include chest pain, shortness of breath, vision changes, persistent or severe headache, unusual/persistent cough, and signs of infection (fever, persistent sore throat). Contact your doctor if you experience any serious side effects. The list of side effects mentioned may not be comprehensive.
Linospan 600 mg can be taken before or after consuming food. The medicine is available as a tablet that should not be chewed or crushed. You must take it regularly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better. Stopping the medication too early may cause the infection to return or worsen.
