Montair 5 mg chewable is a prescription for treating asthma and allergic rhinitis. It contains Montelukast sodium as an active ingredient, which improves symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis by blocking the activity of substances in the body called leukotrienes. Montelukast sodium may be used for the long-term treatment of asthma in adults and children. It is also helpful in preventing asthma episodes.

Montelukast sold under brand Singulair medicine. This medicine does not treat a sudden asthma attack; therefore, it should not be taken to get relief immediately. If you get a sudden asthma attack, you should follow your physician's instructions for managing asthma attacks. Montair 5 mg or Singulair prevents exercise-induced asthma in people 15 and older. A Montair or Singulair prescription helps control symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including runny nose, sneezing, itching, and stuffy nose. These tablets are beneficial in treating seasonal and perennial allergies in adults and children.

Treatment can be continued during acute exacerbations of asthma. Patients with worsening asthma after exercise should have a short-acting inhaler available for rescue.

These events include aggressive behavior, depression, anxiousness, hallucinations, dream abnormalities, restlessness, suicidal thinking, hostility, disorientation, insomnia, irritability, and tremors. One should be cautious about neuropsychiatric events.

      –    Aspirin sensitivity: Patients sensitive to Aspirin usage should continue avoiding aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents while taking Singulair medication.

      –    Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or plan to conceive, Montair or Singulair asthma medicine may not suit you.

      –    Breastfeeding: if you are a nursing mother, Singulair or Montair chewable tablets may be passed in your milk to your baby. You should speak to your healthcare specialist before taking it if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed.

      –    Medical problems: Speak to your healthcare provider about any medical problems.

      –    Other medications:  Notify your health care specialist about all your medicines, including prescription, non-prescription, and herbal supplements. Some medications may affect how Montair works, or Montair may affect how your other medicines work.
