Prasita 10 mg is primarily used to stop blood clots in those people with acute coronary syndrome and in those who are going through a post-heart attack or post-stroke procedure. The medicine contains the active ingredient Prasugrel, which is also prescribed for some disorders of heart or blood vessels. It is an anti-coagulant drug that stops the blood platelets from coalescing (clotting) due to several heart or blood vessel conditions.
If you have surgery or any dental work scheduled soon, you must notify the surgeon or dentist well ahead of the procedure date. You may be asked to temporarily suspend the medication at least a week before so that you do not suffer from severe bleeding at the time of surgery or dental procedure. Remember to avoid some of the drugs already mentioned above while taking Prasita and activities that may put you at risk of bleeding or injury. Take extra care while shaving and brushing your teeth
There are several drugs which can potentially interact with Prasita. Let your doctor know if you are already taking other blood thinners like warfarin.
The drug mentioned above is not the only one which may interact with Prasugrel. There may be others as well. Share the list of all medicines you use at present with your doctor and never start a new medication on your own. Some of the NSAIDs are ibuprofen, diflunisal, naproxen, etodolac, diclofenac, flurbiprofen, ketorolac, indomethacin, ketoprofen, mefenamic acid, meloxicam, or others. These must be taken after your doctor’s consent only.
Prasita 10 mg is an anticoagulant or blood thinner, which makes you prone to bleeding easier, even with a minor injury. Contact your doctor or get emergency medical attention if you have bleeding that does not stop. You may also have internal bleeding (bleeding in the stomach or intestines).
You may also notice unexpected vaginal bleeding, bloody or black stools (tarry colour); bloody urine; or bloody cough or vomit that looks like ground coffee. Some other serious side effects are jaundice characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes, chest pain, severe headache, speech problems, fever, easy bruising, weakness, or imbalance.
Some less serious side effects include mild headache, back pain, minor chest pain, cough, nausea, or tiredness.
Take Prasita 10 mg with or without food. Make it a habit to take this medication at the same time every day. Avoid crushing or breaking a Prasugrel tablet and swallow it as it is. Take all the precautions already mentioned while taking this medication. Store the medication in a cool and dry place as well as away from the reach of children and pets. Do not take Prasugrel if you are allergic to it or if you have several conditions like haemophilia or other bleeding or blood clotting disorder, severe liver disease, and stomach ulcer.
