Udiliv 150 mg is a prescription medicine that dissolves certain gallstones and prevents their formation. It is highly prescribed for the treatment of some of the autoimmune diseases associated with the liver, such as primary biliary cirrhosis or PBC. PBC does not always have symptoms, but with time, it can result in liver failure. It is extremely beneficial in preventing or delaying liver damage in most people if you begin taking this medicine early. It is also given to patients who have recently undergone a liver transplant and possess a high risk of organ rejection. Ursodiol is the major active composition present in the drug Udiliv 150. This is also otherwise known as Ursodeoxycholic acid. This drug is a potent analog of bile acid produced by the liver in the body. Ursodiol works effectively in patients suffering from gallstones, which are caused by high cholesterol levels, and works best when the stones are small and of a “floating” type. It breaks down the cholesterol converted into stones in the gallbladder, thereby dissolving the stones. Patients who are on rapid weight-loss programs are also recommended this drug.
