Zathrin DT 100 mg is an antibiotic medicine prescribed to treat different types of bacteria. The medicine is commonly given to children for treating a wide range of bacterial infections. Zathrin can treat the types of infection include:
- Intestines and
- Urinary tract
This medicine can also be used to treat sexually transmitted diseases. The medicines contain the active ingredient Azithromycin, which works by stopping the growth of the bacteria causing the infection and clearing the infection. Take the drug for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Avoid skipping doses and complete the course to ensure that all bacteria are killed. To avoid skipping the dosage, it is always good to take medicine at a fixed time daily. Skipping or stopping the medicinal course in between can reverse the bacterial infection from the same condition from where you may have started the course.
You are advised to complete the course to avoid reinfection even your child may start feeling better within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. Zathrin DT 100 mg is probably safe to use in patients with a kidney disorder. However, it is best to inform your doctor about your kidney problem before taking medicine. This Azithromycin formulation should be used with caution in kids with liver problems. Dose adjustment may be required in cases of liver problems. Please talk to your doctor for more information. Consider treatment discontinuation if signs or symptoms of hepatitis like weakness, paleness, and vomiting are observed.
Zathrin does not cause any serious side effects and is well tolerated by children. If the side effects occur, they will disappear once the body adapts to the medicine. Talk to your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or become bothersome. The most common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
Give your child this antibiotic medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. You can dissolve the tablet in a glass of water before giving it to your child. The medicine can be given without food, but it is believed that it works better when given with food or some fruits as children often have a sensitive stomach to digest medicines timely. You can give the same dose again if your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this drug.
Zatherin 100 DT medicine is usually given once a day, preferably in the morning; however, in the case of typhoid, it is to be given twice a day. Follow your doctors' instructions fully to experience the best-desired results of this medicine.
