Aristu 1 mg is effective in treating breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause. It can also be prescribed as a preventative therapy in postmenopausal women at moderate or high risk of breast cancer. Each Aristu 1mg film-coated tablet contains a substance called Anastrozole, which is categorized under the class of medications known as aromatase inhibitors. Anastrozole reduces the amount of estrogen hormone that your body makes by blocking the activity of a certain enzyme called aromatase in your body.

Do not take 1 mg of Aristu if you are allergic to Anastrozole or any other ingredients in the medicine. Avoid taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Anastrozole is not meant to be used in premenopausal women.

Before treatment with Aristu 1 mg, check with your healthcare provider if any of the following apply to you:

‒    Still have menstrual periods and have not yet gone through menopause.

‒    Take medicines that contain Tamoxifen or medications that contain estrogen.

‒    Have problems with the kidneys or liver

‒    Have you ever had a condition that affects the strength of your bones

‒    Taking medicines that contain estrogen, such as hormone replacement therapy.

‒    Taking medicines that belong to the class of medicines known as LHRH analog. This includes buserelin, leuprorelin, gonadorelin, triptorelin, and goserelin. These medications are extremely effective in treating breast cancer, certain female health conditions, and infertility.

Anastrozole can affect the mode of action of some medicines, and some medicines can affect the way Anastrozole works. Do not take certain medications used for the treatment of breast cancer, e.g., medications with the active ingredient Tamoxifen. This is because these medicines may stop Aristu 1 mg tablets from working properly. Aristu should not be given to children.

Patients suffering from kidney and liver problems and patients dealing with osteoporosis or at risk of osteoporosis should be carefully monitored by a healthcare professional.

As this breast cancer medicine lowers circulating estrogen levels, it may reduce bone mineral density with a possible consequent increased risk of fracture.

Like all medicines, Anastrozole Aristu 1 mg can cause side effects. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:

‒    Rare and severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) with lesions, blisters, or ulcers.

‒    Allergic reaction causing swelling of the lips/tongue/or throat, which may cause problems swallowing or breathing.

‒    Angina (chest pain) as a result of ischemic heart disease (reduced flow of blood in the vessels of the heart).

‒    Hepatitis (inflammation of the liver). Symptoms may include being unwell, with or without jaundice, and pain in the upper abdomen on the right side.

‒    If you develop nausea, thirst, and vomiting, you should tell your healthcare provider. These symptoms could indicate possible elevated calcium levels.

Very common side effects include hot flushes, joint stiffness,  joint pain, broken bones, weakness,  rash, nausea, headache, vaginal dryness, hair thinning, diarrhea, changes in blood tests of liver function,   muscle pain, carpal tunnel syndrome (pain tingling,  coldness weakness in parts of hands), bone pain,  muscle pain, tingling, tickling, numbness of skin, lack/loss of taste.

This is not a complete list of adverse effects. For any expected effects while taking this breast cancer medication, contact your healthcare professional straight away.

Follow your doctor’s instructions about when and how to take your Aristu tablets. The usual suggested dose of this medicine is one tablet once a day, swallowed with fluids. It doesn’t matter if you take Anastrozole 1 mg tablet before or after consuming food. It is important to keep taking the medicine for as long as your healthcare provider advises you to. The treatment is usually recommended for a prolonged period and needs to be taken for several years. Taking more tablets doesn’t increase the effectiveness of this medicine; therefore, excessive dosage should be avoided.

Missed dose: In case you miss a dose, take your next dose as scheduled. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed one.

Overdose: If you take more tablets than the prescribed amount, seek immediate medical attention right away.
