Augmentin Dry syrup 30 ml is a combination penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It contains two active ingredients, namely Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, which work by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic is only applicable for the use of bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections like the common cold and flu. Using any antibiotic medicine when it is not needed cause it not to work for future infections.

Before you use Augmentin Dry syrup 30 ml, let your doctor know if you are allergic to Amoxicillin or clavulanic acid, penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, or if you have any other allergies. This product may have other inactive components that may bring out allergic reactions or other health complications. Do talk to your doctor for more details.

Before using this antibiotic, let your doctor know your medical history, especially liver disease, kidney disorders, and certain viral infections. Before surgery, tell your doctor about all your products, including prescriptions, non-prescription, and herbal products. Augmentin syrup may cause live bacterial vaccines not to work well. Therefore, telling your doctor about this medicine before vaccination is important.

Nausea, diarrhoea, or vomiting may occur. If any of these persists or worsens, inform your doctor right away. Taking medicine with food will help you reduce upset stomach. Many people using this medicine do not have serious side effects. Inform your doctor immediately if there are any rare but serious side effects that develop persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, severe stomach, yellowing eyes, easy bruising, new signs of infection, and unusual tiredness. The syrup may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition caused by a susceptible bacteria, C.difficile. The condition may develop during treatment or weeks to months after treatment has been discontinued. Tell your doctor if you develop diarrhoea that doesn’t stop, stomach pain, cramping, mucus in your stool, and abdominal pain. If you experience these signs, do not use anti-diarrheal medications and opioid products because they may worsen your condition.

Shake the bottle well before use. One must carefully measure the dose using a spoon or a measuring device. Take the syrup with a meal or a snack as directed by your doctor. This medication is usually taken every 8 to 12 hours. The dosage is generally based on your age, weight, medical condition, and response to the treatment. For the best effect, take this antibiotic syrup at evenly spaced times. Continue to take medicine until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if the symptoms resolve within a few days. Stopping the treatment too early may allow the bacteria to continue to grow, which may increase the risk of recurrence of the infection.
