Azee DT 100 mg is an antibiotic prescribed to treat bacteria of different body parts. It is prescribed to adults 18 years of age or older to treat the following infections:

     –     Acute sinus infection

     –     Acute worsening of chronic bronchitis

     –     Infected throat or tonsils

     –     Community-acquired pneumonia

     –     Genital ulcers in men

     –     Infections of the urethra or cervix

In addition, Azithromycin is also effective as a 5-day regimen for the treatment of respiratory tract and skin structure infections. Azee DT is also used in children to treat infected throat or tonsils, ear infections, and community-acquired pneumonia. Azithromycin is not effective in treating viral infections such as the common cold.

Do not take Azee DT if allergic to certain antibiotics such as erythromycin and Azithromycin. This medicine is contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction associated with using Azithromycin. Azee DT should not be taken by people who can’t tolerate oral medications because they are very ill or have certain other risk factors, including:

     –   Have hospital-acquired infections

     –   Have cystic fibrosis

     –    Need to visit the hospital

     –    Are elderly

     –    Presence of bacteria in the blood

Also, before taking the Azithromycin formulation, let your doctor know, tell your doctor know if you have an irregular heartbeat, cystic fibrosis, and muscle weakness. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, including prescription and non-prescription products, vitamins, and herbal solutions. Especially inform your doctor about digoxin, phenytoin, nelfinavir, a blood thinner, and an antacid that contains magnesium and aluminium. Contact your doctor immediately if you are giving this Azithromycin formulation to your young child or if the child vomits or becomes irritable after taking the medicine.

This antibiotic's most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. These are not all the possible side effects of the medicine. Inform your doctor about side effects that cause trouble or don’t resolve within a few days.

Azee DT may also cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions that can occur in people taking Azithromycin, even after the first dose of the antibiotic agent. Discontinue treatment and get immediate medical help if you develop severe allergic reactions such as skin rash, throat tightness, faintness, trouble breathing, lips/tongue/throat swelling, rapid heartbeat, hoarseness, new onset of fever, and swollen lymph nodes.

Follow all instructions given to you by your doctor carefully. Generally, Azee DT may be taken before or after consuming food. Do not miss any doses or discontinue treatment even if you begin to feel better until you finish the prescribed treatment. If you do not complete the course of your treatment, your symptoms may not completely disappear, and your infection may be harder to treat. Taking all your Azee DT doses reduces the chance that the bacteria will become resistant to this antibiotic drug. If you develop resistance, Azee DT and other antibiotics may not be effective in treating your infection in the future.
