Cetcip L-5 mg is used for the treatment for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perineal in adults and children six years of age and older. It has the active ingredient Levocetirizine, which is a histamine receptor antagonist effective in treating signs of illness associated with allergic rhinitis and nettle rash. It works by reducing the effects of the natural chemical histamine in the body. The natural substance produces a symptom of itching, watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose. Cetcip-L relieves all these symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergies.
Do not take Cetcip L-5 mg if you are allergic to Levocitrizine or any of the other ingredients in the formulation. If you are suffering from severe kidney disorder or renal failure, please avoid taking this allergic medicine. Talk to your health care specialist if you are likely to be unable to empty your bladder. Let your health care specialist know about your health conditions like epilepsy, or convulsions. Please consult your health care expert as use of Levocitrizine 5 mg tablets may contribute to seizure aggravation. The use of Cetcip L is not recommended for children who are less than six years since the tablets are filmcoated which do not allow for dose adaptation. Tell your health care expert if you are taking any other medicines, including prescription, vitamins, or herbal supplements. Exercise caution if Levocitrizine 5 mg is taken at the same time as alcohol or other agents that directly affects the brain function. In some patients, concomitant use of Cetcip- L may interfere with your brain function and affect alertness. If you are pregnant or may be planning for a baby, ask your health care professional for advice before taking this medicine.
The medication may cause vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. These mild side effects usually disappear with time. You must inform your health care specialist if they persist for a long time or troubles you. There are some severe adverse reactions, though, that needs immediate medical attention. Allergic reactions that can cause a rash, itching or swelling of face or throat requires immediate treatment. Other serious side effects include blurred vision, yellowing of your skin or the eyes, trouble urinating, changes in the usual amount of urine, sudden mood changes like getting agitates or having suicidal thoughts.
The dosage of Cetcip-L depends on the age, medical history and severity of the condition and as well as your body’s response after the dose. It may be taken before or after consuming food, and it is always wise to take it as advised by your health care professional. Patients with kidney dysfunction may be provided with a low dose according to the severity of the kidney disorder. In the case of children, the treatment should be based on body weight and will be decided by a health care specialist. However, patients who have severe renal impairment must not take this anti-allergic medicine at all.
