Foracort Rotacaps 6/100 mcg is a prescription drug used for treating asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airways that narrows them and makes breathing very difficult. Asthma can attack people of all ages and usually worsens at night or early morning. COPD is a chronic disease of the airways of the lungs specifically caused by cigarette smoking. Foracort Rotacaps contain two different types of medicine, including formoterol fumarate. Budesonide belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids, while formoterol is one of the effective bronchodilator drugs. This combination of formoterol fumarate and budesonide helps relieve symptoms associated with breathing problems like Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.

Precautions & warnings for Budesonide/Formoterol fumarate use

 

Do not use Foracort Rotacaps if you are allergic to Formoterol fumarate and budesonide. Before using Foracort rotacaps, let your healthcare specialist know if you have any preexisting medical problems. Some of the drugs may interfere with the working of Foracort Rotacaps. Tell your doctor about the medicine you might be taking or have taken recently. Especially let them know of xanthine medicines, salbutamol or other bronchodilators, steroid medicines, anti-depressants, beta-blocker medicines, HIV-protease inhibitors (ex., Ritonavir), and medicine for Parkinson's disease and thyroid problems. Additionally, to make sure the medication is safe for you, tell your healthcare care specialist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine. One should not smoke while receiving the dose of Foracort rotacaps. Smoking can contribute to damage to your lungs and will make your condition worse. Foracort rotacaps have no negligible influence on the ability to drive and operate machines. However, it may make you dizzy, so you must be cautious. It is always recommended to avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it may worsen your condition.

Side effects of Budesonide/Formoterol

 

Budesonide/Formoterol (Foracort rotacaps) are generally safe and effective, but like any other medication, they can also cause side effects. Inform your healthcare provider as soon as possible if you notice swelling of your face, difficulties in breathing, faintness, acute wheezing, palpitations, headache, and abnormal sense of taste or thrush (an infection on the tongue). In such cases, you must go for immediate medical help. Do not get alarmed by the list. You may /may not experience all of them. Usage instructions for Budesonide/Formoterol

 

Do not swallow budesonide formoterol Rotacaps. This is intended to be taken by inhalation only, using a Rotahaler. Rinse your mouth after using it, as it helps avoid throat irritation and dry mouth-like conditions. Open the Rotahaler capsule horizontally, keeping the white spot up and the lighter-colored end in the opposite direction. Then, gently breathe out and seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Take a full, deep breath in your mouth and hold your breath for up to ten seconds. Afterward, take a normal breath and throw away the empty capsule shell. Before using, see the instructions on your prescription. Always talk to your healthcare provider to ensure that you are taking medicine the right way as prescribed. If there is no improvement in the symptoms, call your healthcare provider. The dosage of budesonide formoterol fumarate varies according to the age group for which it is suggested and the patient's condition. Use this medicine daily to keep your asthma symptoms at bay.

 

     –    Adults and children (18 years and above)

The usual dosage ranges from 1 inhalation to twice a day. In extreme cases, the dosage may be increased up to 2 inhalations twice daily.

 

     –    For adolescents (1 to 16 years)

              –    The usual dosage ranges from 1 inhalation twice a day

              –    If the symptoms are controlled, the doctor may ask you to reduce the inhalation once daily.

 

This medicine controls your condition but does not cure it. It is important to continue taking your medicine even if you feel well. Do not stop the drug without your health care expert's advice.
