Foracort Rotacaps 400 mcg 6 mcg combines two medicines to relieve the long-term symptoms of asthma and COPD, making breathing difficult. The first active ingredient, Budesonide, is a corticosteroid drug that stops the release of inflammation-causing chemicals and substances in the body. Formoterol Fumarate, on the other hand, is a bronchodilator that functions by relaxing muscles in the air passages to enhance breathing.

The combination of formoterol fumarate and Budesonide helps the airways in your lungs to stay open, thus causing the relaxation of muscles of these airways, which in turn allows an easy passage for air to get in and out. Foracort 400 mg capsules will relieve symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing and help you perform daily activities more easily. This budesonide formoterol generic medicine generally begins to work within a few minutes, and the effects may last up to several hours.

Special advice for Budesonide/Formoterol

Foracort rotacaps are contraindicated in the following conditions:

    — Hypersensitivity to formoterol or Budesonide

    — Primary treatment of acute episodes of asthma or COPD where intensive measures are required.

Foracort Rotacaps will not prevent an asthma attack that has already started. Don’t use this medication in such an incident.

Formoterol Fumarate may raise the risk of asthma-related death. Remember to use only as prescribed. Consult your doctor about the individual risks and benefits of this medication.
Do not use Foracort Rotacaps (Budesonide Formoterol Fumarate) without your health care expert’s advice if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Don’t give this medication to children below four years of age. This medication may affect growth in children as it contains a steroid. Tell your doctor if you think your child’s growth pattern is improper while using this medication.

The use of medications containing steroids can be damaging to bone health and cause osteoporosis (porous bones). The risks increase largely if you smoke, don’t exercise, have vitamin D or calcium deficiency, or have a history of osteoporosis in your family lineage.

Foracort rotacaps are indicated for use in adults 18 and older only. It is not prescribed for use in children twelve years of age and younger or adolescents 13 to 17.

More frequent administration or a high number of inhalations is not recommended, as some patients are more likely to experience side effects with a higher dose of formoterol.

Budesonide/Formoterol usage instructions

Your doctor will advise you on how you need to use budesonide formoterol rotacaps. You may notice noticeable improvement within a few days but reach its maximum benefit after a few weeks. For this medicine to be effective, it is important to use it regularly, even if you do not have symptoms. Stopping budesonide formoterol asthma medication early may make your symptoms worse. It is not intended to relieve sudden shortness of breath. If sudden breathing difficulties occur, use your rescue inhaler as your doctor prescribes.

Furthermore, to benefit from the medicine, you must ensure you properly use the inhaler; otherwise, Foracort rotacaps do not work either. Rotacaps are powdered medicine capsules placed in a device called a rotahaler. A rotahaler is a plastic device that is breath-activated. So when you inhale, the rotahaler releases medicine from the rotacap.

The use of Foracort rotacaps may not be stopped abruptly. Please consult your doctor if you wish to discontinue treatment for any reason. If you feel you are getting breathless or wheezy while using Foracort rotacaps, you should continue to use this medication but seek medical help as soon as possible, as you may require additional treatment. Speak to your healthcare provider if your breathing is getting worse or if you often wake up at night with breathing problems and wheezing.
