About the drug:

Desmopressin is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Minirin tablets. Desmopressin is an antidiuretic. It is considered a type of vasopressin analogue used as a hormone replacement to help balance the amount of water and salt in the body by preventing excessive amounts of water loss through the urine.

Uses of the drug:

Desmopressin is used to treat bed-wetting, central cranial diabetes insipidus, and increased thirst and urination caused by head surgery or head trauma. It also helps to treat the habbit of involuntary urination during night in children older than 5 years.

Working of the drug:

Desmopressin is a synthetic replacement version of the natural hormone vasopressin. This medication works by acting on the kidneys to reduce the amount of urine they produce. It usually starts to work within an hour and lasts for 7 to 9 hours.
