Nintena 150 mg has been launched to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or IPF (a lung disease characterized by scarring in the lungs). IPF is a chronic progressive form of lung disease which makes lung tissue appear stiff and thick. This interferes with an individual’s ability to breathe and reduce oxygen supply to the blood resulting in breathing issues. Each Nintena soft capsule contains 150 mg of Nintedanib medicine. Your doctor may prescribe Nintedanib capsules for other chronic lung diseases. Talk to your doctor before taking medicine.
Do not take Nintena 150 mg if you are pregnant, allergic to Nintedanib, or any other medicine ingredients. Talk to your doctor if any of the following applies to you:
- have had problems with kidney function
- have had liver problems
- have had bleeding problems
- take blood-thinning medicines
- have had heart problems
- have high blood pressure
- have recently had surgery
- take pirfenidone as this may increase your risk of having diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and liver problems.
Inform your doctor immediately while taking medicine if you get diarrhoea, severe pain in the stomach, nausea pain, major bleeding, or peptic ulcers.
Children and adolescents should not use Nintena capsules under 18 years of age. Let your doctor know if you take any other medicines, including herbal supplements and vitamins. Nintedanib can interact with certain other medicines. These include medicine to treat fungal infections, bacterial infections, or medicine that affects your immune system.
Diarrhea is the most frequent gastrointestinal side effect. In most patients, the side effects seem to be mild to moderate intensity. Diarrhea may lead to dehydration. Drink an adequate amount of water and start appropriate anti-dirrheal treatment as soon as possible under a doctor’s supervision.
Treatment should be initiated by doctors experienced in the management of diseases for which Nintena 150 mg is approved. The recommended dose is 150 mg twice daily, administered approximately 12 hours apart. Patients who do not tolerate the dose should consult their doctor before taking medicine. If diarrhoea, nausea, or vomiting persist, dose reduction or temporary treatment discontinuation should be considered. You are advised to drink plenty of water during the treatment.
