Nizonide DT 200 mg is an antiparasitic drug with excellent efficacy against helminths and protozoa. It is well tolerated when given via the oral route. Patients taking this drug may witness mild gastrointestinal issues, which diminish after some time. It is a prescription treatment for giardia intestinalis-induced diarrhea in patients aged one year or more and cryptosporidium-induced diarrhea in children aged 1 to 12. It is especially effective when diarrhea has been extended for seven days or more. Protozoa are responsible for diarrhea, which is why treatment with Nizonide is considered highly effective; it stops the growth and reproduction of these protozoa.

The medicine's active ingredient is Nitazoxanide, which inhibits parasite growth and thus treats the infection. It does this by interfering with releasing certain substances the parasite requires to live and grow. Nizonide is also sold as Alinia.

Note: Children below 12 years should take the liquid form of Nitazoxanide.
