Salicylix SF 12 Ointment 50 gm

Prolonged use over large skin areas, especially in children and in those patients with significant kidney or hepatic insufficiency, could result in excessive medication in the body. Concomitant use of other drugs that contribute to high salicylate levels should be avoided. In children under twelve years of age and those patients with hepatic kidney impairment, the skin area to be treated should be limited, and the patients need to be monitored closely for signs of salicylate toxicity: nausea, dizziness, vomiting, tinnitus, loss of hearing, diarrhoea, lethargy, and psychic disturbances. In the event of salicylic acid toxicity, the use of Salicylic SF ointment should be discontinued. Sufficient fluid intake is advised to promote urinary excretion.

Patients should be cautioned against using oral aspirin and other salicylate-containing medications, such as sports injury formulations, to avoid additional excessive exposure to salicylic acid. Patients should not use occlusive dressings, clothing, or other occlusive topical products, such as petroleum-based ointments, to prevent excessive exposure to salicylic acid. Excessive application of the formulation other than what is required to cover the affected skin area will not result in more rapid therapeutic benefits. 

Saliclix SF 12 may cause allergic reactions such as dry skin and irritation. Application of the product to large areas of the skin of newborn infants may cause deafness, dizziness, and hearing disturbances. If you develop these or other side effects, discontinue treatment and tell your doctor immediately.

Follow your doctor’s advice while using Salicylix SF ointment. For best results, carefully follow the directions. Avoid contact with broken or inflamed skin. Avoid using other topical medications on the same area of the skin at the same time. Adults, the elderly, and children are advised to apply to the affected area twice daily. The product is for external use only. If you accidentally swallow some of this medication, inform your doctor immediately.
