Sefdin 300 mg is prescribed for treating various bacterial infections, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections. Cefdinir is the main salt composition of Sefdin; it's an antibiotic drug that belongs to a group of drugs known as cephalosporin antibiotics. This medication may also be given for conditions other than those listed in this description.

Antibiotics are not meant to fight viral infections like colds, flu etc. Bacterial infections such as that of ears, lungs, sinuses, skin, urinary tract etc., can be treated using this combination drug. Cefdinir works by stopping the growth of bacteria. 

Let your doctor know if you use other drugs or products, especially blood thinners like warfarin, metformin, and probenecid. However, these are not the only possible interacting drugs. Remember to follow the directions of your doctor regarding any medications. Do not start a new medication without your doctor's advice.

 

Inform your doctor if you are

   — Allergic to this active ingredient or any other ingredient of the drug

   — Pregnant or breastfeeding woman.

 

Tell your doctor if you have the following:

   — High blood pressure

   — Past episodes of depression or suicidal thoughts

   — Deficiency of vitamin D

   — Conditions like lupus, liver disease, diabetes

   — History of seizures

   — Asthma

 

Things to remember:

   — Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if he has the same symptoms as you do.

   — Do not freeze the medicine and store the medicine at room temperature.

   — The safety and efficacy of this drug are not established in children below 16 years of age.

Cefdinir's side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, joint pain, vaginal itching or discharge. These effects are non-serious and should go away after some time.
