Product Description

Tamtero 20 mg is a prescription medicine that is like estrogen (female hormone). In the breast, it can block estrogen’s effect. Tamtero contains the active ingredient Tamoxifen, which may block the growth of breast cancer cancers that require estrogen hormone to grow. Tamoxifen can reduce the chance of getting breast cancer in women with a higher-than-normal risk of getting breast cancer in the next five years. It helps to lower the chance of spreading breast cancer in females who have undergone surgery and radiation for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). DCIS is a type of cancer that is only inside the milk ducts.

Tamtero 20 mg is also given to treat breast cancer in females after they have finished early treatment, which can involve radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. It may also lower the risk of women getting new breast cancer. Tamoxifen is used in men and women to treat carcinoma of the breast that has spread to other parts of the body.

Precautions

Do not become pregnant while taking Tamtero or for two months after you stop. Tamoxifen can stop hormonal contraceptive measures from working. Hormonal methods include injections, patches, rings, and implants. Therefore, while taking Tamtero 20 mg, use birth control measures that do not use hormones, such as condoms, plain IUDs, or diaphragms with spermicide. If you become pregnant, discontinue Tamoxifen straight away and talk to your health care provider. Avoid breastfeeding. It is still not known if Tamoxifen can transfer through your milk and if it can harm the baby.

Side Effects

The most common side effect of Tamtero 20 mg is hot flashes. This doesn’t indicate a serious problem. The other common side effect of the medicine is vaginal discharge. A blood discharge could be an indication of a serious problem. Less common but serious side effects of the medicine that require immediate medical attention are given below:

– Blood clots in your veins or lungs

– Change in the lining or body of your uterus

– Stroke

– Liver problems, including jaundice

– Cataracts or increased chance of needing cataract surgery

How to Use

Swallow the tablet with water or another non-alcoholic liquid. You can take this medicine before or after consuming food. Take this medicine every day. Take Tamtero for five years unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
