Valzaar H 80/12.5 mg

Do not take Valzaar if allergic to Valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, and sulfonamide ingredients. The medicine should not be taken if you make less urine due to a renal problem. This combination of medicine has not been studied in children under 18. You should inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, gallstones, and lupus problems. Do not take this antihypertensive agent during pregnancy. Notice signs of fluid or electrolyte imbalance.

Hydrochlorothiazide has been associated with acute angle-closure glaucoma. Hydrochlorothiazide in the medicine may interact with alcohol, narcotics, and barbiturates, and there may be a risk of orthostatic hypotension. When co-administered with colestipol and cholestyramine, it reduces the absorption of thiazides. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) can reduce diuretic and antihypertensive effects of diuretics. Close monitoring is required. Nursing mothers should avoid this drug.    

The most common reason for discontinuing therapy with Valzaar H was dizziness and headache. Other side effects can be serious and need immediate medical help. You should immediately visit the emergency room in the hospital if you develop symptoms of angioedema, such as difficulty in swallowing and swollen face/tongue/throat. Stop taking this fixed-dose combination medicine and immediately contact your doctor if you develop any symptoms.
