Volix M 0.2/500mg combines two active ingredients: Voglibose and metformin. It is prescribed for treating type II diabetes in adult patients when diet, exercise, and single agents do not result in adequate glycaemic control.

    —  Voglibose effectively reduces high post-meal glucose levels in diabetes patients using other antidiabetic agents. 

    —  Metformin causes a reduction in the hepatic production of glucose, decreasing the intestinal absorption of glucose and enhancing insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose uptake and utilization. Altogether, they improve your body’s response to the insulin hormone that allows it to use sugar in your body. It also helps to delay the absorption of sugar in your body after a meal.    

Volix M 0.2/500mg is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it, if you have diabetic Ketoacidosis (high amounts of acid in your bloodstream), or if you have severe kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you have these conditions. The antidiabetic agent is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as insufficient data on its safety and effectiveness is available.

 

Consult your doctor if you consume alcohol, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. You should not take it if you have type 1 diabetes or diabetic Ketoacidosis (high acid levels in your blood). Before taking this antidiabetic agent, tell your doctor if you have had heart disease.     

Volix M 0.2/500 mg shows some side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, taste change, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, etc. However, these side effects are temporary and usually resolve within a few days. If they become troublesome or persist for longer, please consult your doctor.

 

This medicine can occasionally cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). The symptoms of hypoglycemia include dizziness, sweating, and shaking. To avoid side effects, eat on time and carry a fast-acting sugar source for immediate relief.      

Volix M should be taken with food to avoid stomach discomfort. Take your antidiabetic medicine, even if you feel well or your blood sugar levels are controlled. Do not discontinue treatment without your doctor’s approval, your blood sugar level could rise, and you may be more likely to experience nerve problems, blindness, and kidney damage. The antidiabetic agent is only a part of the treatment program that should also include regular exercise, a balanced diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction, as the doctor advises. Your lifestyle plays a crucial role in controlling diabetes.
