Product Description

Voltapraz 20 mg is indicated for the treatment of duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, reflux esophagitis, prevention of duodenal and gastric ulcers related to low-dose aspirin administration, and prevention of recurrent duodenal and gastric ulcers related to the consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is an adjunct therapy to H. pylori eradication related to gastric ulcers, gastric mucosa-related lymphatic tissue (MALT) lymphoma, idiopathic thrombocytopenia, helicobacter pylori gastritis, and the stomach after endoscopic resection of early-stage cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. Vonoprazan is the active ingredient of the drug that blocks the proton pumps in the lining of the stomach, which releases acid. Decreasing acid production effectively heals ulcers and alleviates symptoms such as acid reflux and heartburn.

Precautions

Precautions with Vonoprazan tablet

Voltapraz is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to Vonoprazan or any other ingredients present in the medicine. Hypersensitivity reaction symptoms may include problems breathing, itching, rash, and swelling of your face, lips, throat, and tongue. Also, the medicine should not be used if you are taking a medicine that contains rilpivirine, which is used for the treatment of HIV-1.

Before taking this gastrointestinal medication, let your healthcare provider know if you have kidney or liver problems. Also, inform about low calcium, potassium, and magnesium levels in your bloodstream or if you are using a diuretic medicine to increase urine.

No clinical trials have been conducted to check the effectiveness and safety of these gastrointestinal tablets in pregnant and lactating women. So, as a precaution, this medication should not be used by pregnant and lactating women unless the benefit of using this medicine outweighs the risks associated with its use. Also, during the treatment, nursing should be avoided if the usage of these medicines is necessary.

Side Effects

Side effects of Vonoprazan tablet

Voltapraz 20 mg may cause some serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. The serious side effects are acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (a type of kidney problem), bone fracture (wrist, hip, or spine), diarrhea caused by an infection in your intestine, low vitamin B-12 levels, severe skin reactions, low magnesium levels in the body, and stomach growths (fundic gland polyps).

The most commonly reported side effects are diarrhea, stomach ache pain, stomach bloating, stomach inflammation, indigestion, high blood pressure, nausea, urinary tract infection, constipation, temporary changes in the sense of taste, vaginal yeast infection, headache, cold-like symptoms, etc. These are not all the possible side effects of this medicine. How to Use

Usage instructions of Vonoprazan tablet

‒ For reflux esophagitis, the recommended dose is 20 mg of Voltapraz once daily. The medicine should usually be given for four weeks. However, when the effects are not sufficiently achieved, treatment may be continued for up to eight weeks.

‒ The recommended dose for treating gastric ulcers is 20 mg, and usage should be limited to eight weeks.

‒ The suggested dose for duodenal ulcers is 20 mg once a day. The medicine should be used for a maximum of six weeks.

‒ For the prevention of recurrence of duodenal or gastric ulcer, low-dose aspirin is recommended at 10 mg once a day.

‒ Adjunct to H.Pylori eradication, generally, the three medications are given orally at teh same time, times a day for a week. These include 20 mg Voltapraz along with, 200 mg clarithromycin and 750 mg amoxicillin.

Note: You may be prescribed different doses from those given in this information guide. Follow your doctor's instructions when taking Vonoprazan formulation to relieve symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn.

‒ Method of administration: The medicine can be taken without regard to food or the timing of food.

‒ Caution should be taken while using this gastrointestinal medication in elderly patients because of decreased hepatic and renal function in such populations.

‒ For use in children, this medication is not meant to be used in patients under 18 years of age.

‒ For use in patients with kidney and liver insufficiency, Voltapraz should be used with care in patients with kidney and liver impairment. A delay in the metabolism and excretion of Voltapraz may occur, which may ultimately result in an increased concentration of Voltapraz in the bloodstream. Also, be careful when using other medications while using this gastrointestinal medication.
