Instructions for special population

      –     Geriatric considerations:

Elderly patients are at increased risk of bleeding complications secondary to falls. The risk of bleeding complications has been associated with an advanced stage. The patients may need to be monitored closely and require a more conservative dosing schedule.

      –     Pregnancy considerations:

Warf 2 mg can cause bleeding in the fetus, and use during pregnancy is commonly associated with spontaneous abortion. Preterm birth, stillbirth, and neonatal death. In pregnant ladies with a high risk for embolism from mechanical heart valves, the benefits and risks of warf therapy should undergo careful evaluation. Some healthcare specialists recommend avoiding warfarin during the first trimester and the time close to delivery.

      –    Breastfeeding Considerations:

Warfarin is not known to be excreted in breast milk. Therefore, nursing women may receive warfarin 2 mg tablet. However, it is always recommended to monitor breastfeeding infants for bruising or bleeding closely.

      –    Kidney impairment

A reduced kidney function may increase the risk of bleeding. However, dosing adjustments are not required for kidney dysfunction. Close monitoring of the patient is required.
