X Vir is used to treat chronic infection with the hepatitis B Virus (HBV) in adults who also have active liver inflammation. Hepatitis B infection can cause liver damage. The antiviral medication works by lowering the amount of HBV in the body. It reduces the virus's ability to multiply in new liver cells. The medication can also help reduce liver damage caused by the virus. It can improve the inflammation and scar tissue caused by the hepatitis B virus in your liver. It may reduce the possibility of developing cirrhosis, liver failure and cancer of the liver.
Entecavir is the main active component of the X Vir tablet. It doesn't stop you from spreading HBV to others by blood contamination, sharing needles, or having sex with an infected partner. Speak to your healthcare professional about safe sexual practices that protect you from the infection. Do not share needles. Never share personal items such as razor blades or toothbrushes with blood or body fluids on them. A vaccine is available to protect people at risk from becoming infected with the hepatitis virus.
Warning, allergy, things to remember while taking the Entecavir tablet
X Vir is contraindicated in patients with previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to Entecavir or other ingredients of the medicine. Before you use Entecavir, speak to your healthcare professional about all your medical conditions, if any of the following apply to you:
‒ Had a liver transplant
‒ Are lactose intolerant. X Vir contains lactose if you have been told by your healthcare specialist that you have an intolerance to some sugars.
‒ Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known whether the medication is safe to use during pregnancy. It is still not known if the medication helps prevent a pregnant woman from passing the virus to the baby. After analysing your condition, your healthcare specialist will decide whether X vir is appropriate for you.
‒ Are breastfeeding. It is not known if the medication can pass into the breast milk or if it can harm your baby. Do not breastfeed if you are taking this antiviral medication.
‒ If you have renal insufficiency, your healthcare specialist may need to adjust the dose of your antiviral medicine.
‒ Tell your healthcare specialist about all the medications you take, including those obtained with a prescription or without one (such as vitamins and herbal supplements).
Side effects of the Entecavir tablet

All pharmaceutical agents have side effects. Sometimes they are serious, but most of the time they are mild and resolve on their own.
Inform your doctor if you experience indigestion, fatigue, headache, or diarrhoea. Some people who have taken X Vir have developed a serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is a serious health problem that can be deadly. Your doctor should know if you develop signs of:

Usage instructions for the Entecavir tablet
Take X Vir 1 mg exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual dose of Entecavir tablets in adults and children over 16 years of age is either one or two 0.5 mg tablets taken orally once a day with a glass of water. If you have kidney problems, your dose may be adjusted to the lowest effective dose. Take the medication once daily, preferably on an empty stomach, to help it work more effectively. Taking on an empty stomach means taking at least two hours after a meal and at least two hours before the next meal. Do not change your dose or discontinue treatment without speaking to your doctor. Your hepatitis symptoms may get worse or become serious if you discontinue treatment. Entecavir medicine helps control the condition but doesn't cure it; therefore, you must continue taking the medicine for as long as your healthcare specialist has instructed. Sudden discontinuation may make the hepatitis virus active again and ultimately lead to severe liver failure. The condition can be life-threatening, and liver transplantation may be required to save your life.
