Duova Rotacaps 18mcg/12mcg is a combination medicine containing Tiotropium bromide and Formoterol fumarate, used to make breathing easier for those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a lung disease characterised by airflow obstruction.

Duova Rotacaps are available as capsules containing a dry powder preparation of the two medications, Tiotropium and Formoterol, intended for oral inhalation only with the support of an inhalation device. This medication is used with a Rotahaler device, which helps deliver the powdered medicine directly into the lungs for quick relief. It helps the muscles of the airway relax, making breathing easier. Hence, relieving symptoms of COPD such as coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Both medicines act as bronchodilators, producing a dilatory effect on smooth muscles and increasing the mucus secretion from the nasal passage and bronchioles.

Formoterol and Tiotropium bromide are both rapid-onset and long-acting bronchodilators that cause relaxation of the small airways of the lungs (bronchioles) to widen the airways. This dual treatment is used for long-term management of severe COPD to treat symptoms, but it is not effective against acute exacerbations. It reduces flare-ups and helps you regain control over your daily life.

Usage instructions - Formoterol and Tiotropium medicine

Duova Rotacaps are meant for regular maintenance therapy rather than immediate relief of sudden breathing problems. Do not swallow Rotacaps. This is intended for inhalation only, using your Rota haler. Rinse your mouth after using it to help prevent throat irritation and dry mouth. Firstly, ensure your Rotahale is clean and dry. Place one rotacap into the rotahaler as instructed by your healthcare provider. Then gently breathe out and place the mouthpiece between your lips. Take a full, deep breath in through your mouth and hold it for up to ten seconds to allow the medicine to settle in the lungs. Following the normal breathing pattern, throw away the empty capsule shell. Stick to the instructions provided by your healthcare expert regarding the timing of your dosage if you have any questions or concerns about the dosing schedule. Inhaler medicines help control your condition but do not cure it. Therefore, it is advised to use it as long as recommended by the healthcare professional, even if you feel well and have no symptoms. Do not discontinue treatment without a healthcare provider's advice.
