Enzamide 40 mg is indicated for the treatment of prostate cancer in adults. It is effective in treating cancer of the prostate that has no longer responded to hormonal treatment or surgical procedures to lower testosterone. It is also used to treat prostate cancer that has spread to other body parts and responds to a hormonal treatment or surgical procedure.
Enzamide contains the active ingredient Enzalutamide, which blocks the action of androgen hormones such as testosterone. By blocking the action of testosterone, Enzalutamide stops the prostate cancer cells from growing and multiplying in the body. It does not mean for use in females.
Things to remember while taking the Enzalutamide capsule
Do not take Enzamide 40 mg if you are allergic to Enzalutamide or any other ingredients of the medicine. Enzamide should not be taken by pregnant women or those who may become pregnant. If you experience a seizure while taking this anticancer medication, check with your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue this medicine. There have been complaints of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), a rare and irreversible condition involving the brain in patients treated with this anticancer condition. If you develop a seizure, confusion, worsening headache, or other vision problems, please consult your doctor.
Patients treated with Enzalutamide have been reported to have cancer of the colon and bladder. Seek medical attention if you develop signs of gastrointestinal bleeding, blood in the urine or frequently feel an urge to urinate. There have been reports of patients having trouble swallowing the capsule, which includes the report of choking. The swallowing issue or choking events were commonly noticed in patients consuming capsules, which could be associated with a larger size. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. The medication should not be given to children and adolescents.
Certain medications used to treat asthma and other respiratory conditions (aminophylline, theophylline) and pain (pethidine) may increase the risk of seizure. Side effects of Enzalutamide capsule
Common side effects include tiredness, falls, broken bones, high blood pressure, hot flushes, dry skin, feeling anxious, headache, nipple pain, breast enlargement in men, breast tenderness, reduced concentration, change in sense of taste, difficulty remembering, blockage of the arteries in the heart, forgetfulness, and difficulty thinking clearly.
Other uncommon side effects of the anticancer medicine include increased liver enzyme levels in blood tests, which is a sign of liver impairment, low white blood cell count, and hallucinations. If you develop any side effects, including those that may not be listed here, seek medical help.
Usage instructions of the Enzalutamide capsule
Always take Enzamide 40 mg as instructed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose that suits you and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. The usual dose is two to three 40 mg capsules taken once daily. Swallow the soft capsules whole with a glass of water. Do not dissolve or open the soft capsule before swallowing it. This medicine can be taken before or after consuming food. Your doctor may also prescribe other medicines while you are receiving Enzalutamide. Incorrect usage may lead to serious adverse reactions. It may take several days to weeks for you to feel the benefit of the medication, but make sure you do not discontinue treatment unless your doctor has advised you to. If you consume more soft capsules than the recommended amount, discontinue treatment and contact your doctor. You may be more likely to develop seizures or other side effects.
