Famocid 20 mg is used for short term relief of symptoms of excessive acid secretion, which includes indigestion, heartburn, and hyperacidity. It has the active ingredient Famotidine, which belongs to a group of medicines known as histamine type 2 blockers. Famotidine relieves symptoms associated with stomach acid-related problems by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The medication is effective against duodenal ulcers, non-cancerous gastric ulcers, and backflow of stomach acid to the esophagous/food pipe. Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome may also receive Famocid 20 mg tablet to treat overproduction of gastric acid and symptoms of inflammation of oesophagus. Your doctor may also prescribe this acid reducer medicine to patients who are at reduced dosage after healing of the peptic ulcer.

Before you begin using Famocid 20 mg tablet, inform your doctor if you are allergic to famotidine or other inactive ingredients of the medicine.
