Stemetil MD 5 mg

In the initial days of the treatment, Stemetil may cause some people to become drowsy or less alert. 

Stemetil is not recommended for use in children undergoing surgery. Also, it should not be given to children under two or nine kilograms of body weight. Rarely may children react to the drug with signs of restlessness and excitement; if this occurs, treatment should be stopped.    

Before using Stemetil, let your doctor know if you have or had:

    — Cerebrovascular disorders

    — Heart or blood vessel disease

    — Brain tumour or brain damage

    — Suffer from increased pressure within the (the conditions referred to as glaucoma)

    — Constipation or intestinal blockage

    — Enlarged prostate

    — Breast cancer

    — Planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding

    — Seizure disorders

    — During long-term treatment, liver, blood and kidney tests should be done regularly.

Stemetil, like any medication, may cause side effects. Talk to your doctor if you get side effects.

Common side effects associated with the use of Stemetil are:

    — Appetite changes, dizziness, headache, constipation, nasal congestion, increased thirst, vomiting, nausea, urinary continence, weight changes and sweating.

    — Anxiety, bizarre treatment, excitement, or restlessness

    — Your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight

    — Changes in libido, increase of breast size in men, menstrual regularities in women.

Inform your doctor immediately if these symptoms persist for longer or become troublesome.   

Your doctor will decide the best dose for you based on your situation and needs. It is important to take medicine as your doctor has told you. Your doctor may increase or decrease the dose depending on your response.

The primary mode of administration for psychiatric conditions can be an oral route.

Do not use Stemetil if you have:

    — Allergy issues to Stemetil, phenothiazines (a type of antipsychotic drug), or any ingredients in the product.

    — Sudden blood circulation failure or an altered state of consciousness or coma, especially if these are caused by alcohol or drugs.

    — Hepatic insufficiency have a blood disorder

    — Renal impairment

    — Pheochromocytoma (a tumour located in the (adrenal gland).

    — Brain issues

    — Taking high doses of drugs that cause you to sleep
